DANISH CUSTOMS AGENT SINCE 1986
DANISH CUSTOMS AGENT SINCE 1986
The history
Danish Customs Agent (Dansk Toldbehandling ApS) was founded on May 10, 1986, by Jack Glerup as a sole proprietorship and operated from Jack’s residence on the island of Funen.
In 2020, he expanded with an office on Zealand, converted the company into a private limited company (ApS) in 2021, and we now have a team of seven colleagues.
Our services
Since the beginning, Dansk Toldbehandling ApS has specialized in customs processing for businesses trading goods globally. In addition to customs clearance, our primary services include customs accounting and advisory on all types of goods and their corresponding permit requirements.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a high demand for “in-house” customs work performed remotely. By connecting to our clients’ systems, we can execute customs tasks from our own office, covering the entire country. We also serve clients on-site when needed.
This is us
Most people associate customs agents with border crossings or airports, but what exactly does a customs agent at Dansk Toldbehandling do? Explaining this can be tricky, and we often encounter the perception that it’s a somewhat dull profession. Naturally, this depends on your perspective, but in short, we play a vital role in facilitating smooth trade for you, your business, and Denmark’s external borders.
We are trained freight forwarders with extensive experience in customs processing, and we prepare customs documentation for you when importing from non-EU countries.
Education and networks
In addition to customs clearance, we have occasionally provided training at the Freight Forwarding School in the advanced customs course. This is our way of giving back to the industry and helping to secure the next generation of customs professionals. It’s always a pleasure to gain inspiration and fresh perspectives from young talents in the freight forwarding field.
We regularly test new customs and administrative systems to meet the growing demand for customs work from our “in-house” clients. We have also participated in testing the Danish Tax Authority’s customs systems, offering feedback on errors, shortcomings, and suggestions for improvements.
We stay updated through professional networks, courses, webinars, conferences, and the latest legislation. This is crucial for us to provide our clients with accurate advice.
Through our daily efforts and diverse backgrounds, we see ourselves as a competitive and experienced partner, well-equipped to handle your customs challenges efficiently.
The future
Tax and customs authorities in the EU are actively developing new customs systems based on the XML IT language. For Dansk Toldbehandling, the future lies in leveraging our expertise across borders, both within and beyond the EU, to continue meeting our clients’ needs and expectations.
Motivation and organization
Our daily work routines are both consistent and dynamic, offering a mix of structured tasks and exciting new challenges. Our varied backgrounds and experiences are a strength, making us a cohesive and collaborative team.
As a small company, our organizational structure is flat, and we share responsibility for task distribution and scheduling. We learn from each other in our open office environment, share coffee breaks, and contribute our individual specialties to benefit the whole team.
